Hal Simonson CFP®, RIAC, MFA-P, CFDS
Hal grew up in small towns across British Columbia and Alberta. Less than three days after high school graduation he headed off to Basic Officer Training. This started a military career that led to a science degree from Royal Roads Military College and a stint as the platoon commander in charge of Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological Defense for Western Canada. He joined IG Wealth Management in 1996.
After spending 25 years focusing on conventional tax and retirement focused financial planning, in 2021 Hal expanded his focus to include philanthropic planning and aims to facilitate $50,000,000 in charitable contributions before he retires. Hal was the 9,105th person globally to take the Giving What We Can pledge, committing 10% of his lifetime income to be donated to the world’s most effective charities.
Hal and his wife Sarah have raised three fine young men together. Outside work Hal enjoys spending summer outside at their cabin, spending winter inside playing cards, plus cooking (and trying to exercise away the cooking calories) year round.
Devon Currah CFP®
Devon's interest in personal finance was sparked at age three when she received a traffic light piggy bank. This early curiosity with financial management laid the foundation for her future career. After gaining valuable experience across multiple industries, Devon joined IG Wealth Management in 2019.
Outside of her professional life, Devon and her husband enjoy trying new restaurants and exploring neighbourhoods within their city. They maintain an active lifestyle and have a shared passion for travelling and immersing themselves in different cultures and perspectives.
Scott Skjei CFP®, TEP, CLU®, MFA-P, CEA, CHS
Before joining IG, Scott spent a decade teaching and practicing economics at universities across Canada. From there, he found his way into the Western Canadian oil field. He was never afraid of getting his hands dirty, so he hauled water to fracking jobs and then spent two years on drilling rigs across Alberta and Saskatchewan.
Scott and his wife have two adult sons, and he enjoys powerlifting, computer science, and cooking. The cuisines of Northern India and Southern Italy and the assorted barbecue traditions of the American South make regular appearances on the menu, as do his wife's elaborate desserts.
Donna Gehmlich CFP®
Donna has 25 years of experience working in personal finance, starting as a bank teller, and working her way up to Private Wealth Management. She completed her Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation in 2009 and focuses on guiding clients through the complexities of investing and taxes, with an emphasis on responsible investing—making these concepts approachable and aligned with her clients’ long-term goals.
She’s passionate about helping people invest in ways that reflect their values, showing that financial growth and social responsibility can go hand-in-hand. Outside the office, Donna gives back through volunteer work with organizations like Hope Mission and the Edmonton Food Bank.
Originally from BC, she’s come to love the wide-open skies of Alberta, where she now calls home. When she’s not helping clients plan their financial futures, you’ll likely find her enjoying karaoke, squeezing in a workout, gaming, or relaxing with her two cats. Whether it’s in her professional role or community involvement, her mission remains the same: to empower others to build secure, impactful futures.
Sarah Lagace
Sarah lives in Sherwood Park with her beloved adult sons, two spirited miniature pinschers, and one very weird orange cat. A collector of moments, Sarah finds joy in photography, scrapbooking, camping, and travel — four passions that weave together like a well-loved quilt of adventure and creativity.
Before joining Hal at IG Wealth Management as an assistant, Sarah spent 21 years as the book department manager at Save On Foods, where she curated stories for others while quietly crafting her own. Whether she's capturing the perfect shot or planning her next getaway, Sarah brings warmth, creativity, and a sprinkle of whimsy to everything she does.
Kimberly Skjei

Before coming to work with Hal at IG Wealth Management, Kimberly spent 9 years working in administration for the Government of Alberta.
