Hal grew up in small towns across BC and Alberta, finally graduating as Valedictorian of the Grande Cache High School class of 1990. 48 hours later, he arrived at Basic Officer Training. This started a military career that led to a B.Sc. from Royal Roads Military College and a stint as the platoon commander in charge of Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological Defense for Western Canada. He left the army at the rank of Captain and joined IG in 1996. Hal has two grown sons and two teenage stepsons with his wife, Sarah. His personal life revolves around the boys’ volleyball teams, cooking, hot yoga, CrossFit, and finding time to play cards.

Scott Skjei, CFP®, CLU®, MFA-P, CEA, CHS

Senior Financial Consultant
Investors Group Securities Inc.

Prior to joining IG, Scott spent a decade teaching and practicing economics at universities across Canada. From there he found his way into the Western Canadian oil field. Never afraid of getting his hands dirty, he drove a truck and then spent two years on drilling rigs across Alberta and Saskatchewan. He and his wife are raising two teenage sons, and he enjoys basketball, powerlifting, Unix computing environments, and cooking. The cuisines of Northern India, Southern Italy, and the assorted barbecue traditions of the American South make regular appearances on the menu, as do his wife's elaborate desserts.
